(September 16, 2003) --
Edwards, Colo. - July 31, 2003 - Bigger is better! More is better! New is better! And better is exactly how to describe the new 2004 edition of UNIQUE VENUES, the world's largest directory of non-traditional meeting and conference venues.
Now in its 16th year, UNIQUE VENUES provides listings and information on unique sites ranging from aquariums, theatres and dude ranches to private mansions, entertainment venues and zoos. And of course, colleges and universities, the foundation of the publication, still figure prominently in the listings.
The 2004 UNIQUE VENUES print directory is the largest ever, at 372 pages. Some additions to this year's 7000+ listings include Graceland, Elvis Presley's home in Memphis; Canterbury Cathedral's International Study Centre located in the South East of England; and the brand new campus center at the University of Massachusetts, overlooking the Boston Harbor and skyline.
In addition to the printed directory, meeting planners can go to www.uniquevenues.com for all of the listings, plus additional maps and photos. New for this year on the Web site, VenueViewer allows planners to take online tours of facilities without leaving their office. Planners also can fill out free RFP forms and receive proposals back from the venues that most suit their needs.
"We continue to see strong growth in both the number of unique venues being offered and the demand for them," said Michele Nichols, president of UNIQUE VENUES. "During these tough economic and political times, we've witnessed just how much meeting planners have needed affordable venues that were close to home and the office, with affordable technology, one-day meeting space, creative approaches, cost-saving ideas and meeting planning assistance."
"In fact," continued Nichols, "we are using terms like 'alternative, non-traditional, non-hotel venues' less and less every year. We are "unique venues" - an explanation is no longer needed."
Twenty Five thousand meeting and event planners will have a complimentary guide mailed to them as a member of a recognized professional, meeting planning organization. UNIQUE VENUES will also send a guide upon request to qualified meeting and event planners who call (800) 933-3500.
