PORTLAND, OREGON (October 17, 2003) -- Doubletree Hotel & Executive Meeting Center - Portland Lloyd Center

IACC GRANTS APPROVAL FOR EXECUTIVE MEETING CENTER
AT THE DOUBLETREE HOTEL PORTLAND – LLOYD CENTER
Only IACC Approved Facility in Portland and Largest in the State of Oregon

PORTLAND, OR, (October 15, 2003) – The Doubletree Hotel Portland – Lloyd Center has received provisional approval from the Independent Association of Conferences & Conventions (IACC) for its new Executive Meeting Center (EMC). The formal approval is scheduled for April 2004 in conjunction with the EMC's official opening. “The EMC concept for Portland was developed with input from several local meeting planners. When opened, the Executive Meeting Center will be the only IACC approved conference center in Portland and one of only a few facilities in the Pacific Northwest to meet the rigorous IACC requirements,” announced Matthew Zolbe, general manager of the Doubletree Hotel Portland – Lloyd Center. “This facility will be a great asset in the Portland market for extensive training meetings and other corporate functions,” said Gayle MacKenzie, executive assistant for PacifiCorp's distribution department, who participated in a focus group panel to provide design suggestions for the EMC.

The EMC differentiates the experience for small to medium size meetings by providing a high level of guest recognition and personalized service delivered by its own dedicated Executive Meeting Center planning and service team, in a very unique meeting environment. The EMC has approximately 8,500 square feet of meeting space within 10 dedicated conference rooms, state-of-the-art audio-visual and technology capabilities, a full-service business center that exclusively caters to the needs of Executive Meeting Center guests and is operated by well-trained staff, and an interactive room for role-play sessions. Shirley Ryder, event specialist for Timberline Software, who also participated in the focus group, noted, “Our technology requirements limit the types of venues that will work for our programs; this facility is exactly what we needed.” Each of the 10 conference rooms in the Executive Meeting Center is specially equipped with ergonomic chairs, customized lighting, non-glare tables, acoustical treatments and individual climate controls to provide the ideal environment for a productive meeting. The approximately 8,500 square-foot facility can comfortably host groups from 10 to 120 attendees.

The Doubletree Hotel & Executive Meeting Center is located at 1000 N.E. Multnomah in Portland, just 15 minutes from Portland International Airport. The Executive Meeting Center complements the 38,000 square feet of meeting and conference space already available at the 476-room, full-service Doubletree hotel. The hotel is prominent in its status as a headquarters hotel for many Portland citywide conventions. Its location is preferred, being situated on Portland's Fareless Square, an area served by Portland's light rail system featuring complimentary transportation throughout the core downtown neighborhood.

Hotel facilities available for conference attendees include a fitness center, outdoor heated pool, and gift shop. The light rail system provides easy access to downtown shopping and attractions, and the hotel is located adjacent to Oregon's largest mall, the fabulous Lloyd Center, featuring over 200 stores, 18 movie theaters, and an ice skating rink.

The Executive Meeting Center will offer three specific meeting packages: Complete Meeting Package (CMP); Modified Meeting Package (MMP) and a Day Meeting Package (DMP). All the packages include a dedicated Conference Planner, 24-hour basis conference rooms, continuous refreshment breaks, full-American breakfast buffets, hot and cold luncheon buffets, business and concierge services, an inclusive audio/visual package including an LCD projector, hotel recreational services and overnight parking.

The Complete and Modified packages also include newly renovated deluxe guest rooms, and the Complete Package provides dinner meals in the EMC conferee dining room along with a carousel-dining option that allows attendees to dine offsite.

The Independent Association of Conferences & Conventions is a not-for-profit, facilities-based organization founded in 1981 to promote a greater awareness and understanding of the unique features of conference centers around the world. IACC's Universal Criteria is designed to ensure superior quality in all facilities and the services offered. The Executive Meeting Center at the Doubletree Hotel Portland - Lloyd Center is being built and will be managed to meet all IACC specifications.

For further information on meeting packages or to secure conference space in the EMC, contact Jessica Anderson at 503-331-4935 or via e-mail at janderson@portlanddoubletree.com.
