EDWARDS, CO (November 9, 2004) -- UNIQUE VENUES

Three principals of Unique Venues, the industry's only marketing company dedicated solely to promoting non-traditional venues to the meetings industry, have recently earned their Certified Meeting Professional designation. The certification places Michele Nichols, President, Chuck Salem, Vice President, and Tony McGuirt, Director of Marketing and Sales, in elite company in the meetings industry.

"Our customers have an interest in keeping pace with their hotel counterparts, " commented Nichols. "We really wanted to know more about the exam, the certification process and the knowledge required to take and pass the exam so that we could recommend it to our customers. Having gone through the process, we can now fully encourage our customers to pursue the designation. In the end, it will make our customers and their venues even more desirable to meeting and event planners."

Obtaining the CMP designation involved taking numerous classes, and attending a "boot camp" in January 2004. The process culminated in a 150-question, three-hour exam, testing Nichols, Salem and McGuirt on 27 topic areas of meeting management functions, including education, financial management, facilities and services, logistics and programming.

"The training and the exam cover everything about meeting and event planning and organization, from soup to nuts," added Salem. "We're glad we committed to taking the exam and experiencing the whole process."

Now in its 17th year, Unique Venues provides listings and information on unique sites ranging from aquariums, theatres and dude ranches to private mansions, entertainment venues and zoos. Colleges and universities still figure prominently in the listings being as the guide began in 1987 as directory to meeting and convention facilities at U.S. educational institutions. The 2005 Unique Venues Print directory is the largest ever, at 404 pages.
